It’s the middle of November. The wind is picking up, the coursework is piling up, and I’m sad. Late fall in Vermont is so fun and cozy until I have to walk the twenty-five minutes home from campus in the cold fall breeze that gives me a chill that I can’t ever shake.

While walking home, listening to Blue Light by Mazzy Star, I realized how much I miss Maine. I can’t think specifically what I miss, but I miss the familiarity of it. Knowing the ins and outs of a place, the wind of the roads, the ever-changing landscape that somehow stays the same, and the familiar faces of the people that were once closest to me.

The coast of Maine was once my safe space and now it’s something I have to admire from afar. Now I can only look back at the film photos I had taken long ago. Please admire the beauty of the Maine coast with me while I reminisce about days I would take a long drive on a rough day, stopping along the way to look at the vast and serene water, thinking about life and what I missed.
